Earlier today we suffered a denial of service (DDoS) attack against one of our websites which meant we needed to take down the web server in order to keep other services running (email, DNS, FTP etc) while we investigated.
The Denial of Service attack was over 25,000 simultaneous attempts to hack a website by some Russian IP address and caused the server to run out of memory. This IP address has now been blocked and the site which was surplus to requirements has been removed.
As the server ran out of memory there may be the odd issue causing minor duplication of a few emails and slight delays on others but it is all now back up and we are working on installing some web server modules to limit the number of connections to port 80 (the web port) for individual IP addresses and should have this installed this week.
Thank you for your patience.
The Aztec server team.
